SNRY Progress.....
« on: February 27, 2022, 08:35:07 PM »
Hello All,

Hope all is well out west on the A&O. Back east, the SNRY has been seeing lots of work and changes. I have been working on the Locomotive fleet to get everything painted into the SNRY BSB scheme and also weathering the "old rust buckets" of the second-hand items still in former ownership colors.

Ex-ICG 8024 now SNRY 2105 and Ex-BN 766 working the yard tracks in LC Yard Sagana, KY.

The BN "F" Unit is one the last of the last 5 Ex-BN that are to be repainted into the BSB scheme of the SNRY in 1987. Due to being power short, they were pressed into service once the work was completed to the insides of them. They got new wheels and their 567 was completely rebuilt along with all wiring replaced and updated.

I still need to renumber it from the default GN number. I used Atheren's latest run installed two speakers and ESU v5 and it sounds good for a HO size platform! Removed the GN plates on the side had to do some clean up painted the area and once weathered one can hardly tell it was a "patched" paint on the factory Athearn paint.

The SNRY has a roster of 18 F9's 10 rebuilt 567's and updated electrical 3 were chosen to be rebuilt but pulled 567's and saved them as core spares for the fleet. Brandnew 645's were installed and the F9's were rebuilt to GP38-2 specs and three were reclassified as F20's on the roster. Due to their 2000HP abilities.

Hope everyone is well!

Mike

Well that looks great Mike! Progress, progress. Your history for the units is a nice touch. I usually settle for which estate sale they came from :-\

Still kicking here. The Kung Flu made its appointed rounds; glad it's behind us. Onward!

David

David,

I am glad everyone did ok with the Nasty "Kung Flu". My current job has me at home 90% of the time so it's easy to get a bit of time to sneak in and work on things for a 10 - 20min window while waiting on quotes or responses from others. Mostly have been working on track work fixes and changing out a set of diamonds for more of a Hand/kit built solution. I did hand lay 10ft of code 70 HO track I think it tuned out ok. I use the Fast Tracks HO plates to build all my switches. Their new Diamond Line stuff is awesome. I built my first "combo" 2 30 degree diamonds and a #6 cross over as all one drop in peace. Man, it sure is sweet vs the Atlas ones it replaced.

I got my hands on a Rapido MLW M420. It's getting closer to completion! It and a 4 C430s and 2 RSC-4 are in the shops both getting painted up! Here is the M420 almost ready for decals.

Have a good rest of the week!
Mike
