My multi-year, non-modeling project
« on: January 16, 2021, 09:36:54 PM »
Sometime in 2015, I realized I had a lot of video of UP's Moffat line west of Denver, so I decided to compile everything I had into one video, not realizing just how much I had. As that crept along, I made 3 trips to Crawford Hill in Nebraska in 7 months. After that, I was curious to see what kind of video I could compile for that 13-mile stretch as well.

This led to an idea of possibly putting together some videos I could sell on DVD, as well as the possibility of putting some photographs together in one place to sell. In looking for projects, I discovered I shot a whole bunch of passenger trains in 2016. Then in 2017-2018, Dad and I made 4 trips to the Missabe and later in that time frame I spent the entire day with UP 844 during the last Cheyenne Frontier Days passenger excursion. I was now working on 6 videos, with the potential for a 7th.

In fall of 2019, I officially filed paperwork with the state of Colorado, and Dubkir Media, LLC, was born. Two days later, I got word of a possible tripleheaded passenger train on the Cumbres & Toltec, so I hustled down to Chama, slept in my car, and shot one of the most exhilarating sights and sounds I've ever experienced.

I spent the winter of 19-20 finalizing the videos, gathering supplies, and starting on a website. Unfortunately, I wasn't as close to completion as I thought, and the rotary run came and passed before I could get everything launched. Then, Colorado's stay at home order was given, and things got so hectic at work that there were days I was going to bed before 8, as I was exhausted. As the summer went along, I one-by-one finished my now 9 videos (the 9th still needs the final touches, but that won't take too long).

With my break from work this winter, I got down to the nitty gritty, and despite still having a few logistical things to work out, I have formally launched my company, and I'm pleased to share it with you guys! You can find the 9 videos and our 5 books at www.dubkirmedia.com. Due to an equipment issue I'm having, I am currently doing modeling-style pre-orders until I can get that taken care of, then I will have product available on hand.

Be sure to spread the word, and if you are on social media be sure to follow us there! (I know there are several here who aren't, which isn't a big deal)

I got my equipment issue figured out late last week and earlier today, and the problem I had last week with burning Blu-Ray discs has also resolved itself (and is quite flawless, actually). I am currently working on burning some discs, and will soon have inventory on-hand!
