L&S Hoppers
« on: August 16, 2020, 06:54:54 AM »
With all that’s been going on, I did have some time to accomplish some things for the railroad.  The basement has had some improvements, almost all related to infrastructure and comfort. We added a ductless mini split system, so the temperature and humidity levels are more manageable.  This summer saw my humidity levels spike, which never was a problem previously.  Just goes to show that a house ages as well, requiring updates to everything.

Oh yeah, hoppers.  After sitting on a shelf for months, with lettering on ONE side, I spent short periods of time over several days to get these closer to completion.  They are Weaver nine panel 70 ton cars.  Nothing fancy.  No separate grab irons, yet.  My friend Matt keeps prodding me to get something new on the rails.  The heralds were printed by Highball Graphics and the car data is from a K4 Decals set for Clinchfield cars of the same type.  Some  Microscale bits were used also.

These cars will be weathered heavily, as they have over a decade and a half of service.

Little tricky posting photos, so let’s see if I did it correctly.
